The Municipality of Pirdop with a center the town of Pirdop, occupies an area of 152.4 square kilometers. It’s located in southeastern Zlatitsa-Pirdop hollow at 672,962 m altitude.
The municipality has a total of 9467 inhabitants. Working population is about 5000 inhabitants.
The majority of the active population of the Municipality of Pirdop is involved in the copper industry and its attendant industries.
The copper plant located in the north-west part of Pirdop is owned by the company “Aurubis Bulgaria”, which is engaged in environmental, recreational and investment programs and a special joint program with the municipality in implementing of infrastructure projects on its territory.
Pirdop is the seat of the District Court, District Prosecutor and police and a home of, hunting, fishing, sports and tourism organizations.
The municipality has four schools and one nursery-kindergarten with a total of four buildings. The schools are accredited and the municipality works in a joint venture with them to implement projects and programs for education, training and retraining of unemployed people.
